About This Beer
Mescan Westport Saison is a Belgian-style farmhouse ale that captures the spirit of traditional saison brewing while showcasing the rugged landscape of the West of Ireland. At 6.2% ABV, it offers a harmonious blend of fruity esters, peppery spice, and a clean, dry finish. Originally brewed in farmhouses to refresh workers during the harvest, saisons are known for their lively yeast character and drinkability, and Mescan has created a truly authentic Irish interpretation.
Brewed using the finest malted barley, hops, and a characterful saison yeast strain, this beer bridges rustic Belgian tradition with Irish creativity. The result is an ale that feels both familiar and unique — a farmhouse beer that belongs equally in Mayo and Wallonia.

About the Brewery
Mescan Brewery is based near Westport, Co. Mayo, founded by former vets Cillian Ó Móráin and Bart Adons. Inspired by Bart’s Belgian roots and their shared love of brewing, Mescan focuses on producing beers rooted in Belgian tradition but brewed with Irish water and dedication. Their beers — from Tripels to saisons — have earned acclaim for authenticity, balance, and quality. The brewery’s location on Croagh Patrick is also symbolic: St. Patrick himself is said to have had a brewing companion named Mescan, from whom the brewery takes its name.
Food Pairings
Westport Saison is a wonderfully versatile food beer. Its peppery yeast character pairs beautifully with grilled chicken, pork, or seafood. The dry finish cuts through creamy cheeses, while the citrus notes complement salads, goat’s cheese, and shellfish. For dessert, try it with fruit tarts or lemon sorbet for a refreshing finish.
