Additional Info

La Trappe Puur Bio is a 4.5% ABV Belgian Trappist Pale Ale brewed using organic ingredients by the Koningshoeven Abbey in the Netherlands. Crisp, floral, and refreshing, this light-bodied craft beer offers an approachable gateway into the Trappist world — with a subtly bitter finish and dry herbal character. As a certified organic beer, it’s a conscious choice for flavour-driven drinkers who value sustainability and brewing tradition.

One of the most sessionable offerings from the Trappist family, La Trappe Puur Bio is ideal for warm weather drinking, with balanced malt sweetness and elegant hop presence. Its light golden colour and peppery yeast profile make it distinctively Belgian, yet wonderfully accessible.

About This Beer
La Trappe Puur Bio is a standout in the Trappist brewing world — not only for its refreshing flavour and moderate ABV but also for its fully organic composition. Brewed by the monks of the Koningshoeven Abbey in the Netherlands, this 4.5% Belgian Pale Ale is made from water, organic barley malt, organic hops, and Trappist yeast. As the only Trappist beer brewed with 100% organic ingredients, it combines tradition with sustainability in a way that few others can match.

Bright and sessionable, La Trappe Puur Bio stands apart for its subtlety and balance. It pours a clear golden straw colour with a fine white head, releasing floral and herbal hop aromas layered with classic Belgian yeast spice. The flavour leans toward light malt sweetness, dry herbs, soft citrus, and a faintly bitter finish — making it the perfect beer for those who enjoy drinkability without sacrificing complexity.

Tasting Notes:

  • Appearance: Pale golden with good clarity and a persistent white head.

  • Aroma: Floral hops, mild citrus, hints of spice and honeyed malt.

  • Flavour: Crisp and clean with notes of peppery yeast, dry grass, and light lemon zest.

  • Mouthfeel: Light-bodied and well-carbonated, with a dry and gently bitter finish.

If you're new to Trappist beers, or looking for a lighter, more accessible introduction to the style, La Trappe Puur Bio is a brilliant place to begin. It’s also a great match for warm weather, picnics, or simply unwinding with a thoughtful, easy-going Belgian craft beer.

About the Brewery
Koningshoeven Abbey, the home of La Trappe, has been brewing beer since 1884. It was the first Trappist monastery outside of Belgium to earn the right to use the “Authentic Trappist Product” label. The monks oversee production and uphold centuries-old monastic brewing traditions, combining spiritual values with innovative techniques.

La Trappe has become a cornerstone of Trappist beer, known for producing a diverse range of styles — from robust Quadrupels to crisp Pilsners. La Trappe Puur Bio, however, is particularly unique in that it caters to contemporary tastes and ecological responsibility, while still rooted in tradition.

Food Pairings
Thanks to its crisp body and delicate bitterness, La Trappe Puur Bio pairs effortlessly with:

  • Light salads and grilled vegetables

  • White fish or steamed shellfish

  • Soft cheeses like brie or goat's cheese

  • Herb-roasted chicken or savoury tarts

Its dry finish and subtle complexity also make it a great aperitif or pairing partner for vegetarian dishes.
