About This Whiskey
Killowen The Dalriadan Part 1 of 2 is an 11 Year Old blended Irish whiskey that challenges convention while honouring tradition. Bottled at cask strength (55.7% ABV) and non-chill filtered, this limited edition expression was crafted by Killowen Distillery using a blend of Irish Single Malt and peated Islay Scotch. It matured in ex-Bourbon and Oloroso Sherry casks before being finished in an additional peated Islay barrel, resulting in a bold and smoky profile rarely seen in Irish whiskey.
This small-batch release explores the historical and flavour-driven links between Ireland and Scotland — particularly the ancient Gaelic kingdom of Dál Riata (Dalriada), which once spanned both coasts. The result is a whiskey that marries the softness and fruit of Irish malt with the rugged peat and salt of Islay. Whether you’re new to peated whiskey or looking to buy whiskey online with a twist, The Dalriadan delivers an unforgettable journey in every sip. This release marks Part 1 of a two-part series from Killowen, known for its craft-focused, boundary-pushing ethos.

Distillery Overview
Killowen Distillery is a fiercely independent craft whiskey producer based in the Mourne Mountains of County Down. Known for reviving historical techniques such as open-top fermentation and worm tub condensation, Killowen focuses on transparency, terroir, and flavour integrity. Every bottle is a reflection of place and process — from locally sourced malt to slow, 12-hour distillation runs. The Dalriadan series continues Killowen’s mission to explore cultural and flavour connections across Celtic whiskey traditions, combining Irish innovation with smoky Scotch influence in a way that’s both bold and respectful.
Food Pairings / Serving Suggestions
This whiskey is best enjoyed neat or with a splash of water to open up its smoky and sherried depths. It pairs beautifully with chargrilled lamb, smoked cheddar, or dark chocolate truffles. For adventurous drinkers, try it alongside a cigar or a smoked sea salt caramel dessert to enhance its peated complexity.
