Astar in Gaelic recounts Glenmorangie's relentless quest to find the ideal oak wood for maturing its whiskies. Astar is aged in “custom” barrels made from American oak trees from the Ozark Mountains in Missouri in the United States. 8,000 km from the Highlands, on an isolated hillside, this oak used in the maturation of this whiskey rises high in the sky and grows slowly. Their wood is very porous, which gives this single malt richness and density. The wood is dried in the open air for 2 years, then toasted and grilled to reveal all its aromatic potential.
