Founded in 2016 by James Ward and family, Lough Gill Brewery took over a former Sealy mattress factory in Sligo and turned it into a powerhouse of creativity in Irish craft beer. Their vision was clear from the start: revive the lost tradition of brewing in the town and create beers that reflect the spirit of their surroundings. The name itself comes from the iconic Lough Gill, a scenic lake steeped in Irish folklore and natural wonder.
Lough Gill quickly established itself as a brewery unafraid to push boundaries — from intense imperial stouts aged in bourbon barrels to sour ales fermented with wild yeast strains and fruit additions. They’ve garnered praise internationally for their limited runs and collaborations, while also maintaining a strong core range of approachable beers for everyday drinking.
