Mo Chara is one of the freshest voices in craft beer Ireland, combining grassroots passion with big ambitions and unmistakable style. Based in Dundalk, this proudly independent brewery and pub brand is now making waves across the island – and beyond. Known for its iconic stubby lager and bold community spirit, Mo Chara is available as part of our Irish Craft Beer selection here on TheCru.ie. Whether you're shopping for craft beer online or exploring new favourites in-store, this is a name you’ll want to know. Authentic, creative, and designed to bring people together, Mo Chara is more than just a beer – it’s a movement in a bottle.
Producer Background
Founded by three lifelong friends – Paul, Vino and Cillian – Mo Chara began not with a beer, but with a pub. The lads opened their iconic Dundalk venue in 2021, choosing the name Mo Chara (meaning “my friend”) as a nod to their roots and their mission: to bring people together. More than just a bar, Mo Chara quickly became a cultural hub, hosting comedy nights, pop-up kitchens, secret gigs, and even screenings with the likes of KNEECAP. Along the way, they’ve launched headline-making collaborations with New Balance, Edwin and Beamish, all while raising thousands for local charities.
But the beer was always the end goal. After years of planning and recipe testing, Mo’s Lager officially launched in 2023 – a crisp, clean lager brewed for sessionable enjoyment, now pouring in over 200 venues across Ireland and the UK. It’s a beer that reflects everything Mo Chara stands for: authenticity, community, and serious flavour without the fuss. The team also donates 10c from every house beer to charity, with over €17,000 raised so far. With growing national demand and global ambitions, Mo Chara is on the rise – and it all started with three pals, a plan, and a stubby.
