Founded in 1769, Brasserie Dubuisson has remained family-owned for over nine generations, making it the oldest brewery in Wallonia still in operation. Located in Pipaix, the brewery was originally attached to a local castle and served a small rural community. The Dubuisson family took full ownership in the early 20th century and launched their iconic Bush Beer in 1933 (known as Scaldis in export markets), one of the strongest Belgian ales of its time at 12% ABV. Over the decades, the Bush range expanded to include Amber, Blonde, Noël, and Prestige versions, all retaining the signature malty richness and complex yeast profile that defines Dubuisson’s house style. Despite industry consolidation, the brewery has maintained its independence and commitment to traditional methods, including in-house yeast cultivation and long maturation times. In recent years, Dubuisson has also introduced the Cuvée des Trolls — a lighter, fruitier option — and embraced modern packaging and export while remaining rooted in artisanal quality.
