About This Beer
La Senne Taras Boulba is a modern classic from the heart of Brussels. Brewed by Brasserie de la Senne — a brewery credited with revitalising the capital’s beer culture — this 4.5% Belgian Pale Ale strikes the perfect balance between refreshment and complexity. Named after a fictional Cossack hero, the beer’s rebellious energy and dry bitterness have made it a cult favourite among Belgian beer enthusiasts and craft lovers alike.
Using only noble hops and traditional open fermentation methods, Taras Boulba offers a flavour-packed profile while keeping things light and crisp. It’s dry-hopped for extra aroma, bottle-conditioned for freshness, and served unfiltered for a rustic, natural finish. Despite its low ABV, it never compromises on character, bringing together grassy bitterness, citrus peel, and classic Belgian yeast spice in every sip.
Tasting Notes:
Appearance: Pale golden and hazy with a fluffy white head and lively carbonation.
Aroma: Floral hops, white pepper, lemon zest, and light bread dough.
Flavour: Bright and bitter with herbal hop notes, citrus peel, and a dry, spicy backbone.
Mouthfeel: Light and effervescent with a clean, crisp finish and subtle lingering bitterness.
If you're a fan of lower-ABV styles with plenty of taste, this beer sits comfortably in the same space as British Bitters or hoppy Table Beers — but with a distinctive Belgian twist. Whether enjoyed solo or with food, it’s one of the finest examples of a Belgian Pale Ale available today.

About the Brewery
Brasserie de la Senne was founded in Brussels in 2003 by Yvan De Baets and Bernard Leboucq, two pioneers of Belgium’s new wave of independent brewing. With a strong focus on traditional methods, natural ingredients, and unfiltered, unpasteurised beers, La Senne stands out for its authenticity and defiance of sugary, high-alcohol trends.
Their beers are brewed with care, integrity, and a touch of rebellion — often showcasing restrained ABVs, strong hop bitterness, and signature yeast-driven flavours. Taras Boulba was one of their first releases and remains a flagship, celebrated worldwide for its character and drinkability.
