About This Beer
Hope Limited Edition No.37 is a richly layered barleywine brewed in collaboration with homebrewer Paddy Gunn from the Wee County Brewers in Co. Meath. Paddy secured the prestigious Andrew Moore Award for Best of Show at the National Homebrew Club Competition 2025 with this very recipe — a competition where our own Caoimhe was one of the final round judges. As part of his win, Paddy had the opportunity to scale up his recipe with the Hope Beer team, bringing his award-winning creation to a wider audience.
This limited-edition beer is full-bodied, deep golden to light amber in colour, and built on classic barleywine character. Expect notes of caramel, dried fruit, warming alcohol, and a satisfyingly rich malt presence. While many barleywines sit at higher ABVs, this interpretation stays incredibly drinkable and well-balanced at 4.6%, making it a great introduction to the style for anyone browsing craft beer online or exploring malt-driven beers within craft beer Ireland.
As this beer comes from an Irish brewery, it fits naturally into our curated lineup of Irish Craft Beer. The combination of homebrew creativity, award-winning pedigree, and professional brewing execution gives this release a unique place in our collection. About the Brewery
Hope Beer, based in Dublin, is one of Ireland’s most respected independent breweries, known for consistent quality, clean recipes, and a smart mix of traditional and modern styles. Their Limited Edition series allows the brewery to collaborate with homebrewers, experiment with new ideas, and highlight seasonal or one-off creations like this barleywine.
Working alongside Paddy Gunn, Hope’s brewing team ensured the winning homebrew recipe was faithfully translated to a commercial batch without losing the character that made it stand out in competition. The result is a beer that celebrates creativity, community, and Irish brewing talent.
This collaboration highlights how vibrant and innovative the Irish brewing scene is — from homebrewers to professional teams — and shows just how much depth can come from seemingly classic styles.
