Mac Ivors Cider Co., based in the orchards at Ardress in County Armagh, Northern Ireland, is a family-owned cidery with a legacy dating back to 1855. The MacNeice family has been growing apples for over 160 years, utilising their vast knowledge and experience in apple processing to craft exceptional ciders. In 2012, Greg MacNeice, an experienced cider maker, launched the first beverage after extensive market research in the UK, Ireland, France, and the US. Since then, the company has become a leading exporter of cider to European markets, Great Britain, and the Republic of Ireland.

Mac Ivors Cider Co. has collected a host of national and international awards for its range of ciders, including:

  • International Brewing and Cider Awards 2017: Three gold medals for Dry, Medium, and Plum & Ginger Ciders.

  • Blás na hÉireann Awards 2018: Gold medal for Medium Cider and silver medal for Plum & Ginger Cider.

  • Dublin Cider Cup 2019: Gold medals for Medium Cider and Plum & Ginger Cider.

An interesting fact about Mac Ivors is their commitment to a simple yet effective cider-making process. They grow and pick the best apples, press the sweet juice using their state-of-the-art press, add natural yeast, and let nature do the rest. The cider matures for at least six months before blending and packaging, ensuring a product that truly reflects the quality of the ingredients and the craftsmanship involved.

Tasting Notes:

  • Appearance: Pale golden hue with a slight green tinge, clear and inviting, indicating a well-crafted cider.

  • Aroma: Fresh green apple notes dominate, with subtle hints of toffee, offering a crisp and enticing scent.

  • Flavour: A harmonious blend of sweet red apple character with a crisp, clean finish. The cider is slightly sweeter than traditional dry ciders, making it approachable for a wide range of palates.

  • Mouthfeel: Smooth and light, with moderate carbonation that enhances its refreshing quality without overwhelming the palate.

Food Pairings:

Mac Ivors Medium Irish Cider pairs exceptionally well with a variety of dishes:

  • Roast Poultry: The cider's sweet apple notes complement the savoury flavours of roast chicken or turkey, enhancing the overall dining experience.

  • Pork Dishes: Whether it's grilled pork chops or a hearty pork stew, the cider's crisp acidity cuts through the richness, balancing the meal perfectly.

  • Cheeses: Pairing with mild to medium cheeses like cheddar or brie creates a delightful contrast, as the cider's sweetness balances the creaminess and slight tang of the cheese.

  • Salads: The light and fruity profile of the cider complements fresh salads, especially those with apple slices, nuts, or a tangy vinaigrette.

Experience the authentic taste of Irish cider with Mac Ivors Medium Irish Cider. Whether you're a cider enthusiast or new to the world of craft beverages, this cider offers a refreshing and satisfying experience.
