About This Beer
Clancy’s Cans is Ballykilcavan’s rotating series of limited releases—small batches that let the Stradbally brewery showcase favourite hops and fresh ideas. Gate Crasher IPA keeps things vivid and seriously drinkable: a 5% hazy IPA built for expressive aroma, crisp refreshment and repeat enjoyment. In the glass you’ll find sunny citrus, ripe tropicals and a light biscuit-malt cushion, all tied together by a clean fermentation profile and a tidy, palate-resetting bitterness. It’s a pitch-perfect choice for fans of Irish craft beer who want flavour, balance and farm-to-glass provenance in a generous 44cl can. If your tastes run hoppy, you’ll find more kindred cans and bottles throughout our IPA & Pale Ale collection.
Gate Crasher leans on Mosaic and Amarillo—the former bringing blueberry-tinted tropicals and a little resin, the latter delivering that unmistakable orange-grapefruit snap. The malt stays supportive rather than sweet, so the finish lands crisp, leaving you ready for another sip. As it warms slightly, fruit breadth expands—think mango, passionfruit and soft peach—while a whisper of pine adds length. It’s polished, modern and purpose-built for versatility, equally at home with Friday-night takeaway, a sunny barbecue or a quiet evening on the sofa.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Bright golden haze capped by a soft white head; inviting haze and gentle lacing.
Aroma: Juicy orange and grapefruit from Amarillo; mango and passionfruit from Mosaic; light pine over biscuit malt.
Flavour: Citrus leads with zesty peel and pith; ripe tropicals roll through the mid-palate; clean malt backbone; well-judged, snappy bitterness keeps everything lively.
Mouthfeel: Light-to-medium body with sprightly carbonation; smooth, refreshing finish that remains crisp, not cloying.

About the Brewery
Ballykilcavan Brewery sits on a working family farm just outside Stradbally, Co. Laois. Provenance and sustainability are central to the project, with a strong emphasis on grain heritage, careful water use and minimal-waste processes. The beers themselves are built around clarity of flavour and balance—clean fermentation profiles, expressive but controlled hopping, and packaging designed to protect freshness. The Clancy’s Cans series lets the team riff on styles and hop combinations while keeping the Ballykilcavan hallmarks intact: drinkability, polish and a natural affinity with food.
Food Pairings
Gate Crasher IPA’s citrus lift and crisp finish make it a natural with vibrant, lightly fatty or gently spiced dishes. Try fish tacos with lime and coriander, buttermilk fried chicken with a squeeze of lemon, or chargrilled prawns with chilli and garlic. For easy home matches, pizza (margherita or pepperoni) is a weekly winner; a classic Caesar salad or a chilli-rubbed chicken salad also shines. On the cheeseboard, mature cheddar or Comté amplifies the citrus thread, while fresh goat’s cheese gives a tangy counterpoint to the tropical notes.
